Target Audience

Educational Services Unit, Early Head Start, Head Start, Vising Nurses, Family Support Workers, Visitation Workers, Child Welfare Professionals, Therapists, Guardians ad litem and any professional who works with children and their families in their home.

Description

Designed for professionals who provide services in the home, this course discusses the importance of empathy in engaging families while simultaneously assessing child safety.  

Participants will learn to:

  • Recognize how biases and assumptions affect family engagement
  • Explain the difference between empathy and sympathy
  • Listen, tune in, and engage clients

Scenarios are enacted in Project Harmony’s training apartment to facilitate experiential learning.  
Space is limited to 25 participants per training.
