Child Abuse and Neglect 101: Reporting and Responding to Child Abuse and Neglect


This course prepares participants with the knowledge and skills to recognize and report child abuse and neglect along with an overview of how investigations of child abuse and neglects are conducted. Participants will discuss challenges associated with reporting abuse and neglect, practice asking minimal facts questions, and receive resources that will help with knowing how and when to report.

Participants will learn:

  • Definitions of child abuse and neglect
  • To identify who must report child abuse and neglect
  • Questions they should ask children before making a report
  • An appreciation that child abuse reporting can be a sensitive and stressful experience for reporters.
