Advice from the experts on having a safe and spooky Halloween
It is the night for tricks and treats - a spooky night, in general but without precautions it can be downright dangerous.
With trick-or-treating already underway for many little ghosts and goblins, area safety advocates want to remind ways parents can keep kids safe.
Omaha Police are warning the public that in the past they have had reports of street drugs being found inside children’s treat bags.
"There's always a few cases a year, around the country that something like that happens. You get some disturbed individual who either deliberately puts something inappropriate inside of a child's bag or it's done by mistake, so, that's why a good overview and overall audit of the candy before your child eats it, is a good idea," said Devin Crinklaw with Omaha Police.
The folks at Project Harmony are also hoping every child stays safe this Halloween.
"Never go inside. if someone offers the children to maybe warm up inside their home, be careful about that,” said Angela Roeber with Project Harmony.
"Just politely say, 'My parents asked me to stay outside,” said Crinklaw.
Have a happy and safe Halloween, everyone!
