Abusive Head Trauma (Shaken Baby)

 

Target Audience

Medical professionals, law enforcement, attorneys, child protective services, school employees, community providers and all others who work with children.

Description

This one-hour course can be tailored for medical or non-medical groups. 

Non-medical and medical participants will become familiar with:

  • Investigative considerations
  • Defense tactics
  • Prosecution considerations
  • Short and long-term outcomes for children with AHT

Medical participants will also be able to describe:

  • What is Abusive Head Trauma (AHT)

    - Differential diagnosis

    - Subdural hemorrhages

    - Retinal hemorrhages

  • Treatment of children with AHT
  • Short and long-term outcomes for children

Using case examples, photographs, radiographs and other digital images, participants will distinguish between abusive head trauma and mimics.
