Child Abuse and Neglect 201:
Collaboration in Child Abuse and Neglect Investigations

 

Target Audience

Child protective services, law enforcement, child advocacy centers, county attorneys, Guardian ad litems (GALs), judges and all who work to protect children.

Description

The purpose of this three-hour course is to present the collaborative approach to child abuse and neglect investigations. Participants will be introduced to:

  • Child welfare terminology
  • How child abuse and neglect is reported in Nebraska
  • The roles and responsibilities of child protective services, law enforcement and child advocacy centers in protecting children

Participants will be assigned a role (detective, nurse practitioner, initial assessment worker, etc.) and have the opportunity to utilize their new knowledge as they work their way through a sample child abuse and neglect case.
